Credit Union History - Established

1958 - Phoenix Post Office Federal Credit Union's board purchased land and built their first "real office" at 12th Street and Oak in Phoenix. The credit union's field of membership was also expanded to include first and second class post offices in Maricopa County, and members of their immediate families.

1973 - Following an illness that forced retirement of the treasurer of 35 years, the name was changed to J.L. Bammerlin Postal Federal Credit Union to honor him and his years of dedicated service. Mr. Bammerlin passed away in 1974.

1979 - The Tucson Credit Union and the Maricopa County Federal Employees Federal Credit Union merged together to better serve all Federal employees throughout Arizona. The name was changed to Federal Employees of Arizona Federal Credit Union.

1982 - St. Lukes Hospital Credit Union, Legal Professions Credit Union and Nogales U.S. Employees Federal Credit Union all merged together and we became First Federal Credit Union to be more representative of our diverse field of membership.
